About Aguer Manyiel

Your past can shape you. It doesn’t have to define you.

Rise Beyond is personal to Aguer because he knows what it feels like to have potential, opportunity and the right systems around you, and still lose your way.

The journey

A lived experience that now helps others move forward.

01

Potential and opportunity

Growing up, Aguer was considered a talented footballer. He was developing within a strong NPL system, attending a private school and surrounded by people and structures that were helping him grow.

02

Losing direction

During his teenage years, he made the wrong decisions, became caught in the wrong environment and eventually entered the youth justice system. He knows firsthand how quickly the wrong influences and a lack of positive direction can change a young person’s path.

03

Finding a way back

Through football, positive relationships, hard work and a change in mindset, Aguer found his way back. His past shaped him, but it did not have to define what came next.
